When it comes to bathrooms then there is often nothing better than a good shower to wake you up first thing in the morning or ease the aches and pains away after some hard exercise.
In these days when we all lead busy lives a shower can often be used far more than a bath can be and they have the added benefit in that they use far less water than a bath does.
However the right shower choice is vital as there is nothing worse than having a shower that is only ever lukewarm or has so little water pressure that the shower merely dribbles water on your body, and does not pummel your shoulders like a good power shower does.
And that leads me to the first factor that you have to take in to consideration when deciding what type of shower to buy, and that is how strong is your water pressure?
If you have low water pressure then you may well need to opt for a “Power shower,” which boosts your water pressure with an electric pump, and power showers also heat the water themselves meaning that you do not have to rely on having a hot water tank or even a combi-boiler.
Which leads me on to the second factor that you need to consider, which is your heating system as this can also dictate what type of shower you opt to buy.
If you have a traditional boiler set-up (As opposed to a combi-boiler) and good water pressure then you will not need a power shower and can simply choose to purchase a normal shower head and mixer tap to control the temperature in your shower cabinet.
If you have a combi-boiler, which produces hot water on demand then you can also opt for a normal shower mixer setup, but if you have low water pressure then you may want to consider the use of a booster pump rather than a “Power shower”.
Likewise if you have a traditional boiler set-up with a hot water tank, but with low water pressure then you could also install a booster pump.
So as you can see when choosing a new shower you have to take both your water pressure and the type of boiler you have in to consideration.
But whatever your situation there is sure to be a solution for you when it comes to picking a new shower, but if in doubt consult your shower supplier for advice.
